Halt at Keylong Visit to nearby Budhist monasteries.

  6  Keylong Darcha By car. Drive along the river Bhaga upstream to camp site Darcha. Accommodation in two men tent.

Darcha Zanskar Sumdo Trek begins. Trek goes upstream Barsi river upto confluence of Barsi and Zanskar chu.

 Z. Sumdo Gadi Shisa Trek goes uphill on narrow bridle path trewn with boulders on a steep hill. Camp on the bank of a gurgling stream.

Gaadi Shisa Chumig marpo Trek goes up marine deposit valley passing through temporary shepherds camps upto camp site.

Ch. Nagpo Gonbo Rangjon Trek goes over a high pass of Shinkunla (ht.  5,028 mts.) covered by glaciers. Then enters into Zanskar valley descending down to river side Lakhang (mountain hut). It resumes trek on fairly level ground with luxuriant growing grass.

G. Rangjon Kuru Trek goes passing on Kargiag village, the first village of Zanskar and reaches to camp of the day on left bank of the river Lungnag chhu.

Kuru Purni Trek goes downstream Lungnag chhu to camp site at Purni camp.

Purni Phugtal monastery Trek resumes a narrow gorge along the Yonam river and back Purni camp river to cave monastery of Phugtal established in 12 century A.D. Scoma-de-Corros, pioneer Tibetologist of Hungary had spent some time here while studying Tibetan language in early 19th century.

Purni Tsethang Trek goes downstream Lungnag chu passing several Zanskari villages to camp site.

sethang Raru Trek goes on same valley of Lungnag to Raru village.

Raru Bardan The days trek goes on through same valley. Visit to Muni monastery on way to Bardan camp.

Bardan Padum Now trek goes on flat area along the river to Padum, the sub-division headquarters of Zanskar sundivision of Kargil district. Padum is situated on the left bank of the river Lungnag. Visit to Bardan monastery on way down.

Halt at Padum Visit to nearby monasteries of Tagrimo and Stupa  temple of Pipting. Also visit to rock carving site of five Dhyana Buddha images.

Padum Pishu Trek goes downstream Zanskar river. Visit to  famous monastery of Karsh, the biggest monastic establishment of Zanskar on way down.

Pishu Zingchen Trek goes downstream Zanskar chu to camp site  where a solitary Zanskari house is standing near the edge of a side river surrounded by small barley field and standing bushes of Siberianwillows.

 Zingchen Newtse After covering a short distance along the main river it begins ascending up hillside upto the spur and then descends down to river Zangchen. Thence trek goes up another hill zigzaging upto camp site.

Newtse Lingshed Trek goes up through a high valley upto the pass of Lingshed (ht. 5,420 mt.) thence descends down to valley. Camp near famous monastery of Lingshed. Visit to monastery in the evening.

Lingshed Photagsa Trek goes over a ridge to Gongma valley and thence again descend up to the pass of Sengela (ht. 5,700 mt.) and again descends down to opposite Photagsa village for the night camp.

  24 Photagsa Changlung Trek goes down along the valley of upper Wanla upto camp site Changlung.

Changlung Wanla Trek resumes next day through same narrow valley to Wanla Oasis. Visit to Wanla monastery, built in 12th century in Udyana style of Buddhist temple. Camp below the monastery on the river bank.

  26 Wanla Lamayuru Trek goes up narrow of Chungka rong upto the pass bearing name as the valley mentioned above. Thence goes doen to the valley upto the most spectacular monastery of Lamayuru built on the edge of conglomerate.
  27 Lamayuru Leh By car or deluxe bus. Visit to Alchi and Pethub monastery on way to Leh.
  28 Leh Delhi By air.
